Arsenal and Manchester United keen on signing Como defender Jacobo Ramon

Arsenal and Manchester United have gone toe-to-toe over new signings in the recent past and are expected to battle it out for the services of one of Europe’s most highly-rated talents next year.
Italian source Tutto Mercato Web has reported that the Gunners and the Red Devils are pondering over a swoop for Como centre back Jacobo Ramon, after his impressive progression under Cesc Fabregas over the last few months.
Having helped Como reach the Champions League this season, the 21-year-old has gone from strength to strength and has remained instrumental to the Serie A side’s recent success in Europe, after also scoring against Manchester United last week.
The Spaniard is valued at £42 million by Como, but Real Madrid, from whose academy he has graduated, hold a buyback clause worth £7.5 million for Ramon. Therefore, Arsenal and United will be in for some tough competition for the defender’s purchase.
Madrid likely to edge out English giants for Ramon’s transfer
Real Madrid’s buyback clause for Jacobo Ramon puts them in pole position to sign him from Como ahead of Arsenal and Manchester United, whereas the player could also be prepared to return to his former side.
Despite stating that he wants to play regularly, he will have little say over Los Blancos’ buyback clause, but with Antonio Rudiger ageing and Eder Militao in poor fitness, Ramon could yet get consistent game time in the Spanish capital in the near future.
One of the alternate ways in which Arsenal or Manchester United could sign him is if Madrid activate their buyback clause, only to sell Ramon at a profit. It remains a viable avenue for both Premier League sides but the player could cost higher in that case.
Jacobo Ramon is one of Europe’s most promising defenders, thanks to his aerial and physical dominance, strong reading of the game and proactive attitude on the pitch and though he would be an exciting addition to the English top-flight, Real Madrid may have other ideas.
