Tottenham remain keen on signing Morgan Gibbs-White from Nottingham Forest

Tottenham Hotspur are planning to reignite their interest in signing Morgan Gibbs-White from Nottingham Forest, according to Football Insider.

Gibbs-White was the subject of one of the most dramatic transfer window conundrums back in the summer of 2025.

The Englishman was reportedly set for a medical in North London after Tottenham triggered what was a secret release clause in his contract.

However, Forest threatened legal action against Spurs over what they believed was an inadequate process to poach their player, forcing the then Thomas Frank-led side to pull out of the deal.

Any suggestion of unhappiness or low morale was immediately squashed as he went on to provide 25 goal contributions, including 19 in the Premier League.

While the 26-year-old is continuing to show his commitment to the tricky trees, Tottenham remain keen on signing him, with Football Insider reporting that Roberto De Zerbi’s side are planning to reignite their interest in him.

Despite his decision to stay with Forest, their poor form this campaign, where they’ve won only one of their last nine games, has raised doubts over his future at the club, according to the report.

The report adds that adding a new attacking midfielder is high on Roberto De Zerbi’s shortlist, and Gibbs-White has been earmarked as a good fit for his style of play, with Spurs ready to launch a swoop should the England international make himself available next summer.

‘Ideal fit’

Providing more details on the situation, former Tottenham scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Gibbs-White could depart Forest in 2027 and Tottenham are well placed to sign him

He said, ‘If Gibbs-White decides to leave Nottingham Forest, Tottenham will be first in line for him.

‘Everybody knows they wanted him a couple of seasons ago; it’s not a surprise that their interest is still there, so if he’s available, Tottenham will be right there.

‘Roberto De Zerbi wants to add another attacking midfielder to his side, especially if Maddison can’t stay fit, and even then, Gibbs-White would be seen as an improvement.

‘They’ve been watching him closely for a long time, so they know all about him and feel he would be the ideal fit for the way they want to play.

‘So I’m told they could certainly be an option for him, and if it looks like he will be leaving Nottingham Forest next year, Tottenham will certainly be making moves to sign him.’

Gibbs-White, valued at £66m by Transfermarkt, would undoubtedly be a good fit for Tottenham, but whether Forest would be open to his departure remains to be seen.
