Tottenham Hotspur are set to travel to Elland Road to take on Leeds United in the Premier League this lunchtime.
Despite splashing a huge amount of money last summer, the Lilywhites endured a dire start this season. However, they have returned to form by winning the last three consecutive matches.
Spurs are currently ninth in the Premier League table with 12 points from nine matches, sitting just three points behind fifth-placed Liverpool. A fifth-placed finish could be enough to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
On the other hand, Leeds enjoyed a promising start under Daniel Farke this season but have been winless in the last five consecutive matches. They are currently 12th in the league with 11 points and are still in the race to qualify for next season’s European competitions.
Team news
Mykhailo Mudryk, Savio, Lucas Bergvall, Xavi Simons and Wilson Odobert remain sidelined due to their respective fitness problems. However, Rodrigo Bentancur is back and available after serving a three-game suspension. Tosin Adarabioyo is also back.
Predicted line-up
Tottenham had a complete week’s break as they don’t have a European assignment this season. So, they should be fresh ahead of this crucial encounter.
Antonin Kinsky is expected to be in goal, and in front of the Czechia international, Jan Paul van Hecke and Micky Van de Ven should be the centre-back pairing for Tottenham.
Pedro Porro should start at right-back, with Andrew Robertson on the opposite side. In that case, Marcos Senesi, Archie Gray, Destiny Udogie and Ben Davies would have to make do with a place on the bench.
Mateus Fernandes is likely to start in the deep-lying playmaker role, with Sandro Tonali in the box-to-box position and James Maddison in the CAM role. Therefore, Bentancur and Conor Gallagher would be among the substitutes.
Mathys Tel is expected to be on the left flank, and Mohammed Kudus might be on the opposite side. Omar Marmoush may lead the line for the North London club; therefore, Dominic Solanke could feature as a substitute if needed.
Expected Tottenham line-up vs Leeds United
Kinsky; Porro, Van Hecke, Van de Ven, Robertson; Tonali, Fernandes, Maddison; Tel, Marmoush, Kudus
