Galliani Reveals “Love” For Drogba & Hints At January Move
AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has played down talk of a double swoop for Chelsea strikers Nicolas Anelka and Didier Drogba this January, but hinted that he may consider a loan move for the Ivorian.
The Italian outfit are expected to replace Antonio Cassano this January after the player was ruled out for the season through injury, and former Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti has recommended the pair to Milan. Both Anelka and Drogba are out-of-favour at Stamford Bridge as Andre Villas-Boas has gone for a more youthful front trio of Mata, Torres and Sturridge this season.
But Galliani claims the club would only be looking for a loan move in January, and hinted he may look at a loan move for Drogba. He told La Gazzetta dello Sport:
“Ancelotti has suggested we take Anelka or Drogba? Ancelotti understands football. Perhaps we will take them both!
“But seriously it is not certain that we’ll take someone in January and, eventually, it would be a loan because I promised to keep a place for Cassano.
“Anelka is a major player but I have been in love with Drogba since he played in Marseille.”
