With the summer transfer window set to open, Football Talk will keep you up-to-date with all the latest transfer news. Today sees an African hitman linked with a move to Manchester.
Newcastle United’s goal scoring sensation Papiss Cisse could be making a move to Manchester, if reports in the Daily Mirror are to be believed.
The report claims that both Manchester United and Manchester City are tracking the striker this summer and weighing up a move for one of Alan Pardews most prized-assets.
Cisse only moved to Newcastle in January from Freiburg in a £10m deal and it proved to be a master stroke from Pardew as the 26-year-old scored a stunning 13 goals in his 14 appearances, including some spectacular strikes.
The Senegal hitman’s goals helped the Geordies make an unlikely push for a top four finish, eventually finishing in 5th, and his form has alerted the Premier League big guns.
FT Verdict
Cisse set the league alight in the second half of the season and some of his goals were jaw dropping, particularly his second away at Stamford Bridge. The lad has proved he can cut it in the Premier League but i don’t think either City or United will make their interest official just yet.

If Cisse does the business for a full season next year, then we should expect other European heavy-weights to join the race to sign him, but for now i think we’ll see him in the Black & White for at least another 12 months.
