MAN UTD STRIKER MACHEDA SIGNS 4-YEAR CONTRACT
Manchester United’s Italian striker Federico Macheda has signed a 4-year contract extension at Old Trafford.
The 18-year-old is now tied to the club until 2014 after only signing pro terms last summer following his move from Lazio.
Macheda made his name when he scored a superb last-minute winner against Aston Villa last year that was seen as a key moment in Utd’s march to a third consecutive league title.
The forward was clearly happy to have signed the extension; “I am very happy to commit my future to Manchester United. I really enjoyed myself last season when I came on and I hope to get more chances like that and contribute to the team’s success.” he said.
Sir Alex Ferguson said of the striker: “We are delighted by the new four year deal, everyone at the club recognises the fantastic talent he has and we hope to see that develop in the next years, so he becomes a well rounded player.”
Macheda is certainly an exciting prospect for Utd and fans will be delighted he has commited his future to the club. He will surely be given his chance to impress further in the Carling Cup Semi Finals against Man City in January, and may even play an important role in the Premier League this season.
