Monaco Eye Move For Unsettled Man Utd Attacker
According to reports in France, Manchester United winger Nani is wanted by free–spending Ligue 1 football club AS Monaco but they face competition from Anzhi.
With the summer transfer window now open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, interest mounts in Nani.
According to Le 10 Sport, Manchester United winger Nani is wanted by free–spending Ligue 1 football club AS Monaco.
The French club has already acquired the likes of Radamel Falcao, Joao Moutinho and James Rodriguez this summer and they are now reportedly chasing the winger’s signature.
Nani has been unsettled at Old Trafford in recent times with the 26-year-old struggling to establish himself as a first team regular and France is tipped to be a possible destination for the attacker. The report claims that Anzhi and Roma are also after him, but it looks like the competition will be between Anzhi and Monaco since they appear to be the only clubs ready to meet Manchester United’s £12 asking price.
Nani endured a tough time last season. He began his footballing year with an incident at the training ground with a young Manchester United team mate. Words were exchanged between Nani and reserve team midfielder Davide Petrucci, which ended with the Portuguese landing a blow on the Italian starlet.
Nani has also suffered on the pitch, with back to back injuries and competition for places restricting him to only 10 league appearances. The likes of Ashley Young, Ryan Giggs, Danny Wlebeck and Antonio Valencia are all vying for places in United’s staring XI on the wings and the signing of Wilfried Zaha is only going to increase the competition for places further.
With one year left to run on his current contract it looks as though he’s going to be on the move this summer but Nani has still a lot to offer and he appears to be in Claudio Ranieri and Guus Hiddink’s plans. Both managers are looking to transform their respective clubs into a Champions League contenders, with money not being an issue.
Although Anzhi Makhachkala can offer the Portuguese a generous contract, Monaco can give Nani higher level of football. Therefore, France might be the right option for Nani where he could regain his confidence and get his career back on track.
