Gareth Bale will hold talks with Real Madrid over his future this week but Old Trafford is his preferred destination if he does leave as Manchester United prepare a £90m bid, according to a report by Football365.com.

Bale has enhanced his reputation as one of the best attackers in world football since joining Madrid from Tottenham in 2013 as he’s provided 88 goals and 57 assists to help Los Blancos win a whole host of trophies including 4 Champions League’s and 1 La Liga title over the past five years.

However, the 28-year-old’s future at the Bernabeu is in serious doubt as Bale admitted he needs to be playing regular first team football after coming off the bench to score twice – including a stunning overhead kick – during Madrid’s Champions League final victory over Liverpool in May.

The Welsh international has been hampered by a number of niggling injuries over the past two years and struggled to force his way back in to Zinedine Zidane’s starting eleven after returning to full fitness at the turn of the year.

Football365 claim Bale will hold talks with new boss Julen Lopetegui this week to discuss his future but with Madrid almost certain to sign another superstar to replace Cristiano Ronaldo following his move to Juventus, the former Spurs attacker will no doubt be concerned over his role this coming season.

Bale has been constantly linked with a move to Manchester United in recent years and the report says they’re ready to launch a £90m bid to bring the Welshman back to the Premier League this summer.

The Red Devils will have to wait to see the outcome of Bale’s talks with Madrid this week before launching any swoop but Football365 says Old Trafford is the players preferred destination if he does leave the Bernabeu.

Jose Mourinho has signed three players so far this summer but he’s expected to further strengthen before the close of the window and Bale would obviously be a hugely exciting signing if United could pull it off.

The Manchester giants lacked a spark in the final third at times last season so Bale’s addition to the squad could help close the gap on Manchester City after they finished 19 points adrift of their rivals last year.
