Argentinean Ace Meets-Up With Man Utd Squad After Agreeing Move On 3-Year Deal
Argentinean international Sergio Romero has linked-up with the Man Utd squad in America this weekend after agreeing to join the club on a three-year deal
With the summer transfer window in full swing, managers are working hard trying to strengthen their squads ahead of next season so we’ll bring you all the news and gossip. Today, Man Utd close in on Sergio Romero…
Argentinean international Sergio Romero has linked-up with the Manchester United squad in America this weekend after agreeing to join the club on a three-year deal, according to the Metro.
Romero became a free agent last month after ending his five-year association with Sampdoria when his contract expired at the end of June and he’s been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent weeks.
The Daily Star reported last week that Romero had arrived in the UK to undergo his medical tests and it appears everything has gone according to plan as the Metro are citing a report from the Daily Mail that claims the 28-year-old has flown out to the United States to link-up with his new United team mates.
The newspaper suggests that Romero has already put pen-to-paper on a three-year deal with Italian outlet Gazzetta Dello Sport reporting a contract worth €1.8m-per-season was agreed with agent Mino Raiola last Wednesday.
Nothing official has come out from United so we should probably wait until something concrete is announced before we consider this a ‘done deal’ but it does appear only a matter of time before the Argentinean international becomes a United player.
Once the move is confirmed, I expect Romero to come in as Victor Valdes’ replacement with the Spanish international set to leave after falling out with boss Louis van Gaal.
It will be interesting to see what the Dutch boss decides to do if David De Gea ends up leaving for Real Madrid but I think we’ll see United bring in a new No.1 with Romero continuing as back-up, but as it stands De Gea remains a United player.

Romero is a vastly experienced goalkeeper and he has 62 caps for the Argentinean national team so he should be a very useful player to have around the squad, and he knows van Gaal well from their time together with AZ Alkmaar when they won the Eredivisie title in 2009.
Once the deal is officially announced, Romero will become United’s fifth signing of the summer following the arrivals of Memphis Depay, Matteo Darmian, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin.
