Man Utd Table Formal Offer For Brazilian International Ahead Of January Move
Manchester United have made an early move to secure a deal for Felipe Anderson after tabling a formal bid to Lazio for the Brazilian international
With the summer transfer window now closed for business, it’s time to start looking at those deals that failed to get over the line and those which are being lined-up for the future. Today, Man Utd are linked with Felipe Anderson….
Manchester United have made an early move to secure a deal for Felipe Anderson after tabling a formal bid to Lazio for the Brazilian international, according to the Express.
Anderson enjoyed an excellent campaign last season with the 22-year-old’s 11 goals and 10 assists in 37 appearances helping Lazio secure a third-placed finish in the Serie A table.
That form led to doubts over his future and he was strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford during the early stages of the summer with the Telegraph reporting back in June that United had tested Lazio’s resolve with a firm bid.
A move failed to materialise in the end but the speculation has resurfaced after Lazio failed to qualify for the group stages of the Champions League with Anderson one of several high-profile names to be linked with a move this winter.
It appears Louis van Gaal has already renewed his interest as the Express are citing reports coming out of Italy that claim United have submitted a formal offer for the Brazilian international’s services.
The newspaper doesn’t indicate the precise amount that’s supposedly been put on the table but they do suggest that United are keen to get a deal tied-up well ahead of the January transfer window.
It remains to be seen how their bid will be received as Anderson only signed a new long-term deal at the end of last season meaning Lazio are under no immediate pressure to cash-in and I’d be surprised if they agreed to do-so half way through the season.
However, he’d be an excellent signing if United could somehow pull it off as he’s a top talent who’s capable of playing anywhere across the front three positions, so he’d give van Gaal plenty of options in attack.

I’d love to see Anderson plying his trade here in the Premier League so hopefully United can get a deal agreed, but my gut feeling is they’ll have to wait until at least next summer before being able to persuade Lazio to sell.
