The opening of the summer transfer window is fast approaching so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, James Rodriguez is linked with Manchester United….
Manchester United look to be closing in on a potential £60m deal for Real Madrid attacker James Rodriguez after the player began house-hunting in the Manchester area, according to the Express.
Rodriguez made his name after putting in some outstanding performances for Colombian at the 2014 World Cup finals which earned him a big-money move to Real Madrid that summer.
However, after an encouraging start to life in Spain, the 24-year-old has struggled to make an impact this season having fallen down the pecking order under Zinedine Zidane and it’s led to speculation he’ll be on the move at the end of the season.
The attackers father even admitted just last week that his son’s situation at Madrid has deteriorated since Carlo Ancelotti left the club last summer.
“The fact that he isn’t playing doesn’t necessarily mean anything, but it’s clear the change in manager was bad for him,” Wilson Rodriguez is quoted as saying by the Express
The Express claim that Manchester United have already held talks about bringing Rodriguez to the Premier League this summer with Madrid ready to cash-in on the playmaker if a bid of £60m is put on the table.
It remains to be seen whether the Red Devils will be prepared to pay that kind of money but it looks like a deal could be on the cards as the newspaper is citing reports coming out of Spain that suggest Rodriguez has already begun house-hunting in the Manchester area.
One potential obstacle over a move is that the Express claim Manchester City are also showing a keen interest in signing the South American but a move to Old Trafford is understood to be more likely at this stage.
United have recently seen reported targets Renato Sanches and Mats Hummels both join Bayern Munich so I’m sure Ed Woodward is desperate to make a statement of intent in the transfer market and he’d certainly do that if he was able to pull off a deal for Rodriguez.
He’s a hugely talented player and I think he would thrive if given the lead role in another team such as Manchester United, so I’d love to see Rodriguez come to England this summer.

Louis van Gaal’s future at Old Trafford is in doubt after they blew their chance to break in to the top four with a 3-2 defeat at West Ham last night but even if the Dutchman is sacked, I’m sure whoever took over would love to have a player like Rodriguez at his disposal.
