French Star Willing To Make £30m Man Utd Move If Jose Mourinho Becomes Boss
Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane is willing to move to Man Utd in a proposed £30m deal but only if Jose Mourinho is installed as manager at Old Trafford
The opening of the summer transfer window is fast approaching so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, more on Raphael Varane’s potential move to Man Utd….
Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane is willing to move to Manchester United in a proposed £30m deal but only if Jose Mourinho is installed as manager at Old Trafford, according to the Daily Star.
Varane has struggled to hold down a regular first team place at Madrid this season with Zinedine Zidane opting to stick with Pepe alongside Sergio Ramos in the middle of defence for most of the campaign.
This has particularly been the case in the bigger games with Varane overlooked for both the recent Champions League semi-finals against Manchester City and it looks as though the 23-year-old is growing tired of his lack of action.
The uncertainty over his future has led to speculation over a potential move to Old Trafford and the Daily Star claim that United chiefs have already held talks about a possible £30m deal this summer.
However, while the newspaper says the centre-back has confirmed he’s open to joining United, he’s supposedly made it clear he’ll only do so if Jose Mourinho is installed as manager as he has no interest in playing under Louis van Gaal.
Varane and Mourinho know each other well from their time together at the Bernabeu and the ‘Special One’ was in charge when the French international moved to Madrid from Lens in 2011, and it appears the defender is keen on a reunion at Old Trafford.
Mourinho has been hotly-tipped to become the United manager this summer but van Gaal could yet save his job if he manages to finish in the top four and win the FA Cup final next weekend.

If the Dutchman fails to achieve one of those targets, I fully expect him to be relieved of his duties and Mourinho is the red hot favourite to take over, which could lead to the arrival of Varane.
It would be a sensational piece of business if United could finally land the centre-back having missed out on his signature five years ago and Varane would be a superb partner for Chris Smalling in the middle of defence if he does end up moving to Manchester.
