Man Utd Eye Move For £11.5m-Rated Argentinean International
Manchester United are eyeing a surprise swoop for Everton centre-back Ramiro Funes Mori and could snap-up the Argentinean defender for as little as £11.5m
The opening of the summer transfer window is fast approaching so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd are linked with Ramiro Funes Mori…
Manchester United are eyeing a surprise swoop for Everton centre-back Ramiro Funes Mori and could snap-up the Argentinean defender for as little as £11.5m this summer, according to the Express.
Mori has only been at Everton for one year after joining the Merseyside club from River Plate in a £9.5m deal last summer and impressed in his 37 appearances during a difficult campaign for the Toffees.
An 11th placed finish in the Premier League led to Roberto Martinez being sacked earlier this month and it looks as though Everton are going to struggle to keep hold of some of their key players, with Mori among those attracting attention.
The Express claim that Manchester United have joined Lazio in eyeing a move for the 25-year-old this summer and Mori’s agent, Jorge Cyterszpiler, has refused to rule out a move for his client – although he suggests the centre-back would cost around £23m.
Cyterszpiler is quoted as saying by the Express:
“Lazio are a great club, but Everton do not want to sell and the value is more than [£23m],”
“But football is strange, anything can happen, he is the best left-handed centre-back in the world at the moment.”
However, despite Cyterszpiler’s bold claims, the newspaper suggests that Everton would be willing to do business for as little as £11.5m, which would be easily affordable for a financial powerhouse like United.
Louis van Gaal’s future at Old Trafford is in serious doubt with Jose Mourinho being tipped to replace the Dutchman after he failed to qualify for the Champions League next season.
Even if he wins the FA Cup tomorrow evening, van Gaal could still find himself out of a job, but whoever is in charge this summer is expected to be busy in the transfer market and Mori appears to be on the clubs radar.
The Argentinean international is a left-sided centre-back so he’d form a new partnership alongside Chris Smalling if he does move to Old Trafford, with Daley Blind forced to fill-in in that position this season.

However, it remains to be seen how much truth there is behind these reports but I’d personally be surprised if United did end up opting for Mori as they’ve been linked with some world class names and I’d expect them to be aiming a little higher than the Everton man this summer.
