Manchester United Table £15m Bid For Highly-Rated Brazilian Striker

According to reports, Manchester United have submitted a £15million bid for a highly-rated Brazilian striker. Find out who the player is and all the details

The opening of the summer transfer window is fast approaching so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Manchester United are linked with Brazilian youngster Gabriel Jesus….

The Express are reporting that Manchester United have tabled a £15m bid for Brazilian wonderkid Gabriel Jesus but could face competition from Manchester City.

Jose Mourinho was announced as the new United manager last month and it looks as though he’s moving in to unfamiliar ground by targetting younger players in the transfer market rather than the more established names.

Having already snapped up 22-year-old centre-back Eric Bailly from Villarreal, the Express claim that Mourinho is now eyeing a move for highly-rated Palmeiras striker Gabriel Jesus this summer.

The 19-year-old has caught the eye of United scouts after scoring 20 goals in 60 appearances for the Brazilian outfit since breaking in to their first team in 2015 but it appears the teenager has a rather complex contract situation.

The newspaper says that Jesus has a two-tier clause in his deal that allows Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid the chance to sign the striker for £16.7m while any other club will have to pay £27.4m.

Despite the lower release clause figure being available to United, the Express claim they’ve tested Palmeiras’ resolve with an opening £15m bid – which falls just short of the reported £16.7m buyout clause.

It remains to be seen whether the Brazilian side will accept United’s offer but it looks as though the Red Devils could face competition as the newspaper says that Man City have submitted a £16.4m bid of their own.

City aren’t one of the clubs who are eligible to pay the lower release fee so Palmeiras are well within their rights to demand in excess of £17m for Jesus, which should put United in pole position to sign the young striker.

Mourinho needs to add more goals to his side as United only managed to score 49 goals in the league last season and with Wayne Rooney’s future looking likely to be in a deeper midfield role, the Portuguese coach could be eyeing Jesus as competition from Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial next season.
