Man Utd are closing in on the signing of Henrikh Mkhitaryan with the attacker set to undergo his medical after a £26.3m fee was agreed with Borussia Dortmund
The opening of the summer transfer window is fast approaching so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd close in on Henrikh Mkhitaryan….
Manchester United are closing in on the signing of Henrikh Mkhitaryan with the attacker set to undergo his medical this week after a £26.3m fee was agreed with Borussia Dortmund, according to Sky Sports News.
Mkhitaryan has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent weeks after it was confirmed that the player had failed to agree terms over a new contract extension with Dortmund.
As he has just one year remaining on his current deal, Mkhitaryan was initially expected to be sold but the Bundesliga giants have been refusing to cash-in as they are reluctant to lose another key player after already seeing Ilkay Gundogan and Mats Hummels leave the club this summer.
The Armenian international’s agent, Mino Raiola, appeared to put pressure on Dortmund after telling the media last week that his client wanted to leave and had his heart set on joining his ‘dream club’ Manchester United.
The tactic worked as ESPN reported over the weekend that Dortmund had finally agreed to sell Mkhitaryan if the price was right and Sky Sports News claim today that United have now agreed a £26.3m fee with the German outfit.
The news outlet suggests that Mkhitaryan will undergo a medical this week after personal terms were agreed following talks with Raiola so the 27-year-old could be a United player very soon.
Jose Mourinho is has already signed young Ivory Coast defender Eric Bailly but the Portuguese coach needs to add creativity to his attack and there aren’t many more creative players in Europe than Mkhitaryan right now.

The former Shakhtar Donetsk playmaker has just come off the back of a season that saw him score 23 goals and provide 32 assists and was named as the Bundesliga Players’ Player of the Season, so he’ll be an excellent signing for United once his proposed move goes through.
