Attacker Flies-In To Manchester To Complete £33m Move To United
Henrikh Mkhitaryan flew in to Manchester this afternoon on a private jet to complete his proposed £33m move to Manchester United from Borussia Dortmund
The opening of the summer transfer window is now open so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Henrikh Mkhitaryan is on the verge of joining Man Utd….
Henrikh Mkhitaryan flew in to Manchester this afternoon on a private jet to complete his proposed £33m move to Manchester United from Borussia Dortmund, according to the Manchester Evening News.
Mkhitaryan has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent weeks after it was confirmed that the attacker would not be signing a new contract after extension talks with Dortmund collapsed.
Dortmund were initially determined to keep hold of the 27-year-old despite the fact he only had one year remaining on his current deal but after lengthy negotiations, the German outfit finally softened their stance after United submitted an improved bid.
CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke said earlier this week that the club would make a final decision before pre-season training starts on Monday but admitted the situation had changed following United’s much improved offer.
Watzke is quoted as saying by the MEN:
“Manchester United have substantially improved their offer.
“The situation has changed. There are always several aspects in such a decision. I have already contacted the appropriate people and we will weigh up all the pros and cons. Then the board will make a decision.”
The Mirror claim that United’s latest offer was for £33m and it seems that’s been enough to force Dortmund in to a sale as the Manchester Evening News are reporting that Mkhitaryan flew-in to Manchester on a private jet this afternoon.
The newspaper says that the jet flying from Dortmund was due to arrive at Manchester Airport at 3.30pm as the Armenian international arrives to complete his move to Old Trafford.
This news comes shortly after United practically confirmed Mkhitaryan’s imminent arrival after mistakenly selling the new away shirt with his name on it on the official club web shop. The gaff was swiftly removed but not before eagle-eyed internet users took screenshots:
We’ll now await further news but it looks as though Mkhitaryan is on the verge of completing his move to United and I think he’s going to prove to be a sensational signing for the Red Devils.
The Armenian scored 23 goals and provided an incredible 32 assists in all competitions last season and United could certainly do with more creativity in the final third after only scoring 49 league goals last season.
