In-Demand £20m Star Favours Chelsea Move Over Arsenal Or Man Utd
N’Golo Kante looks to be on the move as he’s set to reject a new contract with Leicester City and favours a move to Chelsea over Arsenal or Manchester United
The opening of the summer transfer window is now open so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, N’Golo Kante favours a move to Chelsea….
N’Golo Kante looks to be on the move as he’s set to reject a new contract with Leicester City and favours a switch to Chelsea over Arsenal or Manchester United, according to the Telegraph.
Kante has just come off the back of a sensational debut season in England having helped Leicester clinch a shock Premier League title win following his move from FC Caen last summer.
The 25-year-old’s stunning form has led to strong interest from a number of English clubs with the Telegraph claiming that Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United are among those who are battling-it-out for his signature.
Leicester are obviously desperate to try and keep hold of the French international and are hoping he will follow striker Jamie Vardy in signing a new lucrative contract extension with the club, but the newspaper suggests that Kante is set to reject the Foxes advances and push for a move.
And interestingly, the Telegraph claim that Chelsea is understood to be the midfielders preferred destination ahead of Arsenal or United as he’s supposedly keen to work under incoming boss Antonio Conte – although he hasn’t ruled out a move to either the Emirates or Old Trafford just yet.
Conte is posed to officially take over at Stamford Bridge when he fulfills his duties with Italy at Euro 2016 and he seemingly views Kante as the ideal addition to his new-look midfield next season.
The report indicates that the Frenchman has a £20m buyout clause in his contract but clubs could decide to bid over that figure to secure Kante’s signature as Leicester are free to accept the highest bid over that set fee.
It’s suggested that this is the reason that clubs such as Chelsea, Arsenal and United have been reluctant to make the first move as they fear it will trigger a bidding war, so they are patiently waiting to see who blinks first.
Whoever does end up signing Kante, should he leave the King Power, would be getting a superb deal as he’s developed in to one of the best defensive midfielders in Europe over the past 12 months and is proving it again for France at the Euro’s.

For now it looks as though Chelsea are in pole position but I wouldn’t rule out Arsenal or United just yet as Arsene Wenger is a known fan of the player while Jose Mourinho could see him as his ‘new Claude Makelele’ at Old Trafford.
