President Confirms Man Utd Are In Talks Over Deal For Talented Attacker

The opening of the summer transfer window is now open so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd are linked with Hirving Lozano….
The vice-president of Mexican outfit Pachuca has confirmed Manchester United are in talks to try and sign highly-rated attacker Hirving Lozano this summer, according to the Mirror.
New boss Jose Mourinho has been extremely bust in the transfer market so far this summer with Henrikh Mkhitaryan set to following Eric Bailly and Zlatan Ibrahimovic in moving to Old Trafford.
However, the Portuguese coach is still expected to further strengthen his squad over the coming weeks and as well as targetting established names the so-called Special One seems to be focussing on youth far more than he has at previous clubs.
It looks like the United scouts have been casting their eye on the South American market as the Pachuca president, Jesus Martinez, confirmed three months ago that the Red Devils chief scout, Jim Lawlor, has been keeping a close eye on some of their players.
The Mirror claim that Erick Gutierrez and Rodolfo Pizarro are among those United are showing a keen interest in but Lawlor is believed to be particularly keen on Hirving Lozano – affectionately known as ‘Chunky’ – and Pachuca would be happy to see him move to Old Trafford.
Martinez is quoted as saying by the Mirror:
“[The chief scout] has been coming here to do special reports on our players, but especially Chucky,” he said .
“We would love it if he had to go that it would be to a team like Manchester United or Porto.”
Lawlor was the man to discover former United striker Javier Hernandez and it looks as though the club are ready to trust his judgement once again as the Pachuca vice-president, Andre Fassi, has now confirmed that the two clubs are in negotiations over a deal for Lozano but no agreement has been reached just yet.
Fassi is quoted as saying by the Mirror:
“Already there is negotiations with that team [United]? Yes, There is still nothing closed though.”
Lozano has been with Pachuca his entire career having joined them as a teenager and he’s progressed through their youth ranks before breaking in to the first team squad in 2014.
The winger has scored 29 goals in 103 appearances and after being a regular for Mexico at U20 level, he was called up to the senior side for the recent Copa America where he made four appearances before they were thrashed by Chile last month.
We’ll have to wait and see if United are able to get a deal agreed but if they do them they may have to apply for a ‘special talent’ visa as Lozano is unlikely to qualify for a work permit if Mourinho sees him as a first team squad player straight away.
The 20-year-old looks to have a bright future ahead of him and United could certainly do with adding more creativity to the squad after only managing to score 49 league goals last season and there’s no way that’s enough for title contenders.
Mourinho is desperate to make United competitive after a disappointing three years and bookmakers seem to think the Portuguese coach will turn things around as the Reds are currently 4/1 second favourites with Bet365 to win the title next season.
