The summer transfer window is now open for business so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Spurs close in on Vincent Janssen….
Dutch international Vincent Janssen is undergoing a medical with Tottenham Hotspur in London ahead of his proposed £18.8m from AZ Almaar, according to Sky Sports News.
Spurs have been strongly linked with a move for Janssen in recent weeks after watching him develop in to one of the hottest prospects in Dutch football following his €400,000 move to AZ from Almere City last summer.
The 22-year-old scored 32 goals in all competitions during his first ever season in top-flight football to help AZ finish fourth in the Eredivisie table and his potential caught the attention of several clubs throughout Europe.
Sky Sports claim that Wolfsburg and Paris Saint-Germain were among the clubs showing a keen interest but withdrew from the race after being told that the striker’s preferred destination was White Hart Lane.
After seeing their initial £15m offer rejected two weeks ago, Sky Sports now say that Spurs agreed a deal worth £18.8m on Friday and reports suggested that Janssen flew-in to England over the weekend to complete his move.
The news outlet claims that the striker was due to undergo his medical at Tottenham on Monday afternoon so assuming there were no complications, it could be a matter of hours until we get official confirmation that the deal has been completed.
Janssen’s arrival will give boss Mauricio Pochettino another alternative to Harry Kane next season which is going to be important ahead of Tottenham’s participation in the Champions League.

The games are going to come thick and fast and Spurs aren’t going to be able to rely solely on Kane if they want to keep their top scorer fresh for all competitions, so Janssen will be top class competition for the England international.
