Man Utd Lining-Up Move For Experienced Brazilian International
Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is eyeing a move for an experienced Brazilian international defender. Find out all the details here
The summer transfer window is in full swing so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd are linked with Joao Miranda…
Manchester United are eyeing a move for on-loan Inter Milan defender Joao Miranda if either Daley Blind or Marcos Rojo are sold this summer, according to the Daily Mail.
Jose Mourinho has already splashed out £30m on Eric Bailly from Villarreal but there are concerns the young Ivory Coast centre-back is not yet ready to command a regular starting spot at a big club like United.
The Portuguese coach is expected to allow youngsters like Cameron Borthwick-Jackson, Tyler Blackett and Paddy McNair leave on loan this summer while the Daily Mail claim that more established names like Rojo and Blind are also available on permanent deals.
Rojo has struggled to establish himself as a central defender since arriving from Sporting Lisbon in 2014 and has spent most of his time at left-back but it looks like Mourinho is ready to cut his loses with Luke Shaw now back to full fitness.
Blind was also signed by former boss Louis van Gaal and although he arrived at Old Trafford as a utility midfielder, he filled-in at centre-back for most of last season, but it appears the Dutch international’s place is also under threat.
The Daily Mail claim that should United successfully sell either Rojo or Blind over the coming weeks, Mourinho will look to bring in another experienced central defender to partner Chris Smalling at the back this coming season and Miranda has once again emerged as a target.
The Brazilian international has long been linked with a move to United and the newspaper report suggests that scouts continued to monitor his progress during the second half of last season.
Miranda is owned by Atletico Madrid but joined Inter Milan on a two-year loan deal last summer and had an impressive debut season under Roberto Mancini at the San Siro, helping them to a fourth placed finish in Serie A.
