The summer transfer window is in full swing so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Tottenham are linked with Danny Drinkwater…
Tottenham are set to test Leicester City’s resolve with a £20m bid for Danny Drinkwater and tempt the midfielder to north London with the promise of a lucrative contract, according to the Express.
Mauricio Pochettino has already splashed out around £11m signing Victor Wanyama from Southampton but the Argentinean coach is being tipped to bring in further midfield reinforcements ahead of their participation in the Champions League.
It looks like Pochettino is ready to raid the newly-crowned Premier League champions as the Express are reporting that Spurs are keen on signing Leicester midfielder Danny Drinkwater this summer.
The 26-year-old played a key role in helping the Foxes clinch a shock title last season and the newspaper claims that Tottenham are ready to test Leicester’s resolve with an opening £20million offer.
Drinkwater is currently locked in contract extension talks but the Express suggest that the slow progress in negotiations has given Tottenham encouragement and they are expected to match or better the £80,000-a-week Leicester are willing to pay the midfielder.
Claudio Ranieri is desperate to keep hold of his key players after losing N’Golo Kante to Chelsea and the Italian will hope that Drinkwater decides to follow Jamie Vardy in committing his future to the King Power.
However, should the England international give any indication that he may be open to the idea of a fresh challenge, then it looks like Tottenham are ready to offer him a new start in the capital.
Drinkwater would be an excellent addition if Spurs could pull it off and he’d provide stiff competition to the likes of Mousa Dembele – who established himself alongside Eric Dier in Pochettino’s midfield last season.

We’ll have to wait and see how talks progress but a £20m offer may prove to be a tempting one for Leicester if Drinkwater doesn’t agree terms over an extension over the coming weeks.
