Tottenham are being linked with a move for a Moroccan winger with their proposed £11m deal to sign Marseille ace Georges-Kevin N’Koudou on the verge of collapse
The summer transfer window is in full swing so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Tottenham’s deal for Georges-Kévin N’koudou stalls…
Tottenham may be forced to turn their attention to alternative targets with their proposed £11m deal to sign Marseille winger Georges-Kevin N’Koudou on the verge of collapsing, according to the Guardian.
Spurs looked set to wrap-up the signing of N’Koudou after agreeing an £11m deal with Marseille three weeks ago and Sky Sports News claimed that the 21-year-old had successfully undergone his medical in London last month.
The winger has been patiently waiting in the capital for the deal to go through and it looked set to happen this week after Clinton N’Jie was granted his work permit to move in the opposite direction on a season long loan as part of the deal.
However, it appears there have been some late complications as the Guardian claim that negotiations have collapsed after Spurs chairman Daniel Levy tried to renegotiate the structure of the payments.
The initial deal was agreed with former Marseille president Vincent Labrune before the club was sold to new owners and the newspaper says that Levy has tried to take advantage of the situation by changing the structure of the deal.
The Guardian claim that Spurs had previously agreed to pay the majority of the £11m up front, but Levy has now offered to pay just £4.2m in advance with the rest of the £11m coming in additional add ons.
It’s understood that the new offers isn’t acceptable to Marseille so the talks have stalled, and the report suggests that the breakdown in negotiations may have played a part in Paul Mitchell’s imminent departure as Tottenham’s head of recruitment.
With the N’Koudou deal on the verge of collapse, the Guardian claim that Tottenham could now turn their attention to Lille attacker Sofiane Boufal – who has also been strongly linked with a move to White Hart Lane in recent days.
The Moroccan international only joined Lille in January 2015 but enjoyed an excellent campaign last season that saw him score 11 goals in 29 games and it looks as though that form has caught the attention of Spurs.

However, any potential deal for Boufal could be complicated by the fact he’s currently on the sidelines with a meniscus injury that’s expected to keep him out for another few weeks.
