Manchester United are plotting a late swoop on Monaco for their £25m-rated full-back Fabinho during the closing stages of the transfer window, according to Marca via the Mirror.
Jose Mourinho hinted that his business this summer was done after Paul Pogba followed Eric Bailly, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan in making the move to Old Trafford earlier this month.
However, the right-side of defence continues to be an area where Mourinho may look to strengthen during the next fortnight, particularly with Matteo Darmian being tipped to head back to Italy following an difficult debut season at the club.
Should the Italian international, as expected, move back to his homeland this month then Mourinho is going to need to bring in a replacement and the Mirror are citing a report coming from Spanish outlet Marca that claims United are eyeing a late swoop for Fabinho.
The Brazilian international was strongly linked with a move to United during the early stages of the summer with the Daily Star reporting in July that the Red Devils were keen on a move with Monaco supposedly ready to do business at £25m.
That sort of money shouldn’t be a problem for a club with the financial resources of United and Fabinho would be an exciting addition if Mourinho does decide to press ahead with a deal over the next two weeks.
The 22-year-old has become one of the best full-backs in Ligue 1 since joining Monaco in 2013 and showed off his attacking instincts having scored six times for the French outfit last season alone.
Fabinho has been capped four times by Brazil but has struggled to displace Dani Alves as his countries No.1 right-back meaning he may have problems gaining a work permit – although under new rules the large transfer fee will go in United’s favour.

The defenders agent is Jorge Mendes – who also represents Mourinho – so I’m sure the United boss will be looking to use his close relationship with the agent to try and ensure a deal goes through smoothly if United do make their interest official over the coming days.
