Burton vs Liverpool Preview, Team News, Line-Up, Betting Tips & Predicted Score
Liverpool take on Burton in the EFL Cup this evening. Here’s a preview with team news, likely line-up, betting tips and predicted score for the game
Liverpool will be looking to book their place in the third round when they take on Burton Albion in the re-named EFL Cup on Tuesday night.
The Reds failed to reproduce the kind of form that saw them beat Arsenal 4-3 on the opening weekend of the season as they slumped to a disappointing 2-0 defeat at Burnley on Saturday afternoon.
Jurgen Klopp will be demanding a response from his players as they travel to the Pirelli Stadium to take on Burton Albion in the second round of the League Cup and the German coach has already confirmed he’s going to take the game seriously by not making wholesale changes to his team.
However, Burton won’t be here to just make up the numbers as Nigel Clough’s side have enjoyed a steady start to life back in the Championship after gaining back-to-back promotions from League Two two years ago.
Team News
Klopp will resist the temptation to make too many changes but we still expect the German coach to mix things up with defender Joel Matip set to come in and make his full debut following his summer move.
Marko Grujic should also get a chance to impress in midfield while Emre Can is set for a recall after recovering from a minor back injury. Alberto Moreno could come in for James Milner at left-back after being dropped at Turf Moor.
Divock Origi is in line for his first start of the season with Daniel Sturridge dropping to the bench while Philippe Coutinho may get a breather.
Likely Line-Up
Predicted Score
Burton 0-3 Liverpool: I expect Burton to give Liverpool a tough game tonight and this will be the first ever meeting between the two sides. However, the Reds have never lost a League Cup clash against a lower ranked team in their previous 12 games and Klopp won’t want to lose that record. I think the Premier League giants will have too much quality in the end.
Betting Tips
Betting on cup games is never easy as there are always shocks but I think this is as close to a ‘banker’ as we can find tonight. Klopp will field a strong side so I don’t see anything other than an away win. Liverpool are the 2/7 favourites to win the game but if you click here you can find some tempting bonus codes that will help make your money go further. If you want even more value, then I like the look of the following bets:
- Both teams to score at: EVENS
- Exact score of 1-2 Liverpool at: 8/1
- Origi to score first in a 1-2 Liverpool win at: 18/1
What do you think? What line-up would you like to see start?
