The transfer window is now drawing to a close so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Manchester United are linked with Diego Rolan…
Manchester United are eyeing a late swoop on Bordeaux for highly-rated Uruguayan international striker Deigo Rolan after stepping-up their interest over the weekend, according to a report in the Mirror.
Jose Mourinho has previously suggested that his summer transfer activity was over after bringing in Paul Pogba in a world record deal from Juventus with the midfielder following Eric Bailly, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan to Old Trafford.
However, United continue to be linked with players with the media suggesting that Mourinho is still considering a late foray in to the market to further strengthen his squad before Wednesday night’s 11pm deadline.
The majority of outlets suggest that United will look to add another defender to their ranks, however, the Mirror are citing reports coming out of France from radio station RMC that claim the Red Devils are eyeing a late swoop for Diego Rolan.
The report says that United had a scout in the stands to watch the 23-year-old score the winner over Nantes on Sunday which saw him take his tally to two in his three games so far this season.
It appears Mourinho is now mulling over a late move for the Uruguayan striker but United could face plenty of competition as the Mirror claim that Bayern Munich and Norwich City are among the clubs who are also keeping a close eye on the players situation.
Rolan joined Bordeaux from Defendor Sporting in 2013 but has just two years left to run on his current contract so the Ligue 1 club may need to cash-in now or risk his value dropping considerably if he hasn’t signed an extension by next summer.
If he does end up moving to Old Trafford, I don’t think the South American striker will make any serious impact on the United first team this season as he’d face stiff competition from Ibrahimovic, Marcus Rashford, Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial for a starting spot.

However, he is considered as one of the brightest young talents in French football and he’d no doubt be seen as more of a long-term investment by United if they do decide to snap him up before the window slams shut.
