Chelsea & Tottenham Tipped To Make Audacious Moves For Man Utd Outcast
Chelsea and Tottenham have been tipped to launch audacious moves for a Manchester United outcast this summer.
Managers are now making moves to try and strengthen their squads during the January transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, more on the future of Luke Shaw….
Manchester United are ready to cash-in on Luke Shaw this summer with Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur tipped as potential buyers for the out-of-favour defender, according to the Independent.
Shaw was regarded as a star for the future after emerging from the Southampton youth academy and was expected to establish himself as United’s first choice left-back for years to come after joining the club in 2014.
However, the 21-year-old’s career hasn’t gone according to plan so far as he saw his progress hampered following a cruel double leg break during United’s Europa League clash with PSV at the start of last season.
After a long road to recovery, the youngster has struggled to regain full fitness this campaign and has spent much of the season on the sidelines with a groin injury that’s restricted him to making just 13 appearances in all competitions so far.
Shaw’s last outing in the Premier League came back on October 29th and he hasn’t been included in any of Jose Mourinho’s squad’s in recent weeks despite being declared available for selection by the United boss.
The Independent claim that Mourinho has become frustrated with Shaw’s lack of progress in adapting to his style of play and it’s led to some senior members of the squad speaking privately to the defender.
The newspaper states that United are now ready to listen to offers for Shaw in the summer and suggest that Chelsea and Tottenham will be among the clubs vying for his signature at the end of the season.
Chelsea have been linked with a number of left sided defenders in recent weeks with Antonio Conte seemingly looking to bring in competition for Marcos Alonso in the left wing-back position – a role the attack-minded Shaw would suit well.
Tottenham have also been excelling in a 3-4-3 formation this season and the newspaper suggests that Mauricio Pochettino would be keen on Shaw if Danny Rose was to leave the north Londoners this summer.
That appears unlikely at this stage as the England international only signed a new long-term contract in September so that could leave Chelsea in pole position to land Shaw if he leaves Old Trafford.

However, I have serious doubts as to whether United would be willing to do business with a direct rival for a young player with so much potential, so I’d personally be surprised if Shaw ended up moving to west London.
