Managers are now making plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd are linked with Marquinhos….
Manchester United are set to table a £60m bid for Marquinhos with the Paris Saint-Germain defender’s agent ready to old talks with Old Trafford chiefs about a summer move, according to a report in The Sun.
Jose Mourinho is gearing-up for a bust summer as he looks to build a squad capable of challenging for top honours next season and a dominant centre-back to partner Eric Bailly looks to be on the agenda.
Several names have been linked with a move to United in recent weeks but The Sun are citing a report coming from Sport that claims Mourinho has now set his sights on Marquinhos.
The Brazilian international has also attracted interest from Barcelona with the Spanish outlet suggesting the La Liga giants have tabled a bid worth in excess of £42m for the defender.
However, the report says PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi would prefer not to sell to Barca which has opened the door for United to hijack the proposed move by tabling a £60m offer of their own.
It remains to be seen whether that sort of money will tempt PSG in to a deal but Marquinhos has reportedly rejected a new contract with the French giants so they may feel now is the time to cash-in.
Marquinhos has long been linked with a move to Old Trafford with the Mirror reporting just last month that United were confident of getting a deal agreed so news of their interest won’t come as a shock.
However, it seems a deal could actually be on the cards as The Sun claims the South American’s agent is due to meet with United officials to discuss a summer switch to the Manchester giants.

Marquinhos is one of the best young centre-backs in world football and at just 23-years-old, he has plenty of time left to develop even further so I think he’d be a superb signing if United could lure him to Old Trafford.
