La Liga Star Keen On Move After Man Utd Open Talks Over Potential £40m Deal
Jan Oblak is keen on joining Manchester United after the Red Devils initiated talks over a potential £40m move from Atletico Madrid this summer
Managers are now making plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Manchester United are linked with Jan Oblak…
Jan Oblak is keen on joining Manchester United after the Red Devils initiated talks over a potential £40m move from Atletico Madrid this summer, according to the Daily Star.
United fear David De Gea will finally join Real Madrid this summer and the Spanish international won’t play again this season having already been left out of their last two games.
Many feel Jose Mourinho is preparing for the 26-year-old’s exit and the Daily Star claim that executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward could be left with no choice but to sanction a £60m deal with Madrid this summer.
That would leave a huge void to fill between the sticks as De Gea has been outstanding for United in recent years and it looks like the Manchester giants are ready to go back to his former club to find a replacement.
That’s because the Daily Star state that Mourinho has made Jan Oblak his number one target if De Gea does leave and is lining-up a £40m swoop for the Atletico Madrid goalkeeper.
The newspaper says that United officials have already sounded out Oblak about a potential switch to Old Trafford and the Slovenian international is keen to join if a deal can be agreed.
Oblak made his name in Portugal after helping Benfica win the domestic treble in 2014 and his potential earned him a big-money move to Atletico Madrid that summer.
The 24-year-old has developed in to one of the best goalkeepers in the world during his time at the Vicente Calderon and helped Diego Simeone’s men reach the Champions League final last season.
Losing De Gea would be a big disappointment for United fans but bringing in Oblak as his replacement would certainly ease the blow as I think he’d be a superb signing if they could pull it off.

No doubt Atletico will be desperate to keep hold of him but £40m would be tough to turn down and they may be forced in to a deal if Oblak makes it clear he wants to move to Old Trafford.
