Player Keen On Move As Man Utd Plot £60m Bid For Tottenham Star
Jose Mourinho is urging his Manchester United bosses to launch a £60m bid to finally persuade Tottenham Hotspur to sell Eric Dier this summer
Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd are ready to table a £60m bid for Eric Dier…
Jose Mourinho is urging his Manchester United bosses to launch a £60m bid to finally persuade Tottenham Hotspur to sell Eric Dier this summer, according to the Mirror.
Mourinho has already splashed out over £100m on the signing of striker Romelu Lukaku and centre-back Victor Lindelof but the Portuguese coach is still in the market for further reinforcements.
United know they have to strengthen if they are to have squad capable of challenging for top honours next season and a long-term replacement for Michael Carrick is desperately needed.
Dier had emerged as a prime target in recent weeks and the Mirror claim that United were initially confident of sealing a deal after tabling a £40m bid and promising to double the players current £75,000-a-week wages.
Spurs rejected United’s advances and made it clear Dier won’t be sold at any price this summer, however, it looks like Mourinho isn’t ready to take no for an answer just yet.
The Mirror claim that the ‘Special One’ is urging chief executive Ed Woodward to test Tottenham’s resolve with a £60m offer which United hope would prove too good to turn down.
Dier signed a new long-term contract at White Hart Lane last summer after developing in to a key player for Mauricio Pochettino since his £4m move from Sporting Lisbon in 2014.
However, the newspaper report suggests that Dier is keen to join United as he’s been promised a starting role in his preferred central midfield position if he makes the move to Old Trafford.
The 23-year-old has largely been used as a central defender during his time with Tottenham as Victor Wanyama is Pochettino’s first choice option in midfield but Dier see’s his future in the middle of the park.
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is known to be a shrewd operator in the transfer market but even he would be tempted to cash-in and turn a huge profit if United do end up submitting a £60m bid for Dier.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming weeks but I think Dier would be an excellent signing for United if they were able to get a deal agreed with Tottenham.
