Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd are linked with Gareth Bale….
Manchester United are prepared to launch a sensational move to sign Gareth Bale this summer if Real Madrid indicate they are willing to cash-in on the attacker, according to ESPN.
Bale has continued to forge a reputation as one of the best players in the world since joining Madrid from Tottenham in 2013 in what was a then world record £86m deal.
The Welsh international has been a huge success as he’s scored 67 goals and provided 51 assists in 149 appearances to help the Spanish giants win three Champions League trophies and one La Liga title.
However, Bale’s future at the Bernabeu is now in some doubt as the Daily Star are reporting that Madrid could cash-in on the 28-year-old in order to raise funds for Kylian Mbappe.
Spanish newspaper Marca claimed on Tuesday that Madrid have reached an agreement over a £161m deal to sign the 18-year-old from Monaco and his arrival is expected to see one of their key men leave this summer.
The La Liga giants have already sold Alvaro Morata and Danilo for a combined £100m but they need to raise extra funds to complete their swoop for Mbappe and the Daily Star say Madrid are considering offering Man Utd the chance to sign Bale.
Should that happen, ESPN claim United will do all they can to get a deal agreed and lure the former Spurs star to Old Trafford as Jose Mourinho is desperate to bring in a wide attacker this summer.
The report says that while Bale is happy with life in Spain, he will consider a move away from the club if Madrid make it clear he’s available for transfer and United is reportedly his move likely destination.
The Manchester giants beat Madrid on penalties in a friendly over the weekend and footage emerged of Mourinho greeting Bale in the tunnel where he jokingly said “I can’t buy you because you don’t talk to me”.
The Welsh star may be more open to the idea of speaking to Mourinho about a switch to United if Madrid do end up signing Mbappe so this is one potential transfer story that’s worth keeping an eye on.

Obviously it would be a sensational piece of business if United could sign Bale this summer as he’d bring some much-needed creativity to Mourinho’s attack, but I’d still be surprised if we see him leave Madrid any time soon.
