Chelsea Set To Table £50m Bid But Tottenham Star Favours Man Utd Move
Chelsea are ready to test Tottenham’s resolve with with a £50m bid for Danny Rose but the defender favours a move to Manchester United
Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the final weeks of the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, the latest on Danny Rose….
Chelsea are ready to test Tottenham’s resolve with with a £50m bid for Danny Rose but the defender favours a move to Manchester United, according to the Express.
Rose rocked Spurs after questioning the clubs transfer policy in an explosive interview last week where he also suggested he wasn’t being paid what he is worth at White Hart Lane.
The 27-year-old also expressed his desire to start winning trophies and admitted that he would consider any serious offers that came in for him this summer with a move back up north his preference.
Tottenham fined the left-back for his outburst but Mauricio Pochettino insisted the matter had been put to bed after Rose issued a public apology late last week.
However, that didn’t stop speculation from circulating that Chelsea and Manchester United were hoping to lure Rose away from north London following his controversial interview.
Given the Doncaster-born defender expressed his desire to move back up north to be nearer his family, it’s no surprise that United were installed as the favourites to secure a deal and The Sun claimed that Jose Mourinho was ready to use Luke Shaw as bait to land the England international.
However, any move now looks unlikely as the Express claim United are ready to end their pursuit and move on to other targets after Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy made it clear they would not sell this summer.
This hard-line approach doesn’t appear to have deterred Chelsea as the newspaper says the Blues are poised to test Tottenham’s resolve with a £50m bid as Antonio Conte looks to bring-in Rose as competition for Marcos Alonso.
But Chelsea’s attempts to sign the former Leeds defender also look set for disappointment because not only does Rose favour a move to United but the Express also say Spurs are determined not to sell to their London rivals.

This leaves Rose in a state of limbo as it looks like he’ll be forced to remain at Tottenham for the foreseeable future with Levy insisting he won’t see another key player leave following Kyle Walker’s move to Man City earlier in the summer.
We’ll have to wait and see how things develop but while I think Spurs will reject Chelsea’s reported £50m offer, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Rose eventually join United in 12 months time.
