Chelsea Boss Ready To Hijack Man Utd’s Move For £50m Attacker
Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the final weeks of the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, the latest on Ivan Perisic….
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is ready to try and hijack Manchester United’s attempts to sign £50m-rated Inter Milan attacker Ivan Perisic, according to a report in the Express.
Conte has already snapped-up Alvaro Morata, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Antonio Rudiger and Willy Caballero this summer but the Blues boss is desperately trying to further strengthen his squad.
Chelsea have sold seven players on permanent deals with a further 12 leaving on loan while Diego Costa is also expected to leave so it’s left Conte with a threadbare squad to choose from.
With Eden Hazard out injured and Victor Moses occupying the right wing-back role, Conte only has Willian and Pedro as established senior players to choose from in the attacking areas.
Therefore, it looks like Chelsea are hoping to bring-in another option during the closing stages of the window as the Express are citing a report from The Times that claims Conte has set high sights on Perisic.
The Croatian international has been strongly linked with a move to Man Utd this summer with the Express reporting earlier this week that the Red Devils were confident of securing a deal to sign the 28-year-old.
Jose Mourinho has admitted he wants to sign a wide attacker before the window closes and the newspaper said United had reopened talks with Inter over a potential £50m deal to sign Perisic after seeing two lower offers rejected.
However, it looks like United may now face some stiff competition from Chelsea as long as Conte can persuade the clubs hierarchy to sanction a move for the Croatian attacker.
It’s going to be interesting to see where Perisic ends up if he does leave the San Siro over the next two weeks but I think he’d be an excellent signing for United or Chelsea if either could get a deal agreed.

The winger provided 11 goals and a further 12 assists for Inter last season and he has a hard-working attitude that should go down well with Mourinho or Conte, so I think he’d be a huge success here in England.
