Man Utd Meet Agent To Push Through £39m Deal Amid Rival Interest From Chelsea
Manchester United have met with the agent of Ivan Perisic to push through a £39m deal amid reports Chelsea have joined the chase for the Inter Milan attacker
Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the final weeks of the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd step-up their pursuit of Ivan Perisic…
Manchester United have met with the agent of Ivan Perisic to try and push through a £39m deal amid reports Chelsea have joined the chase for the Inter Milan attacker, according to the Mirror.
Perisic has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford all summer after Jose Mourinho identified him as a prime transfer target but the Red Devils have struggled to agree a deal with Inter.
Mourinho has signed striker Romelu Lukaku, midfielder Nemanja Matic and defender Victor Lindelof this summer but he’s admitted he’s still hoping to bring in a wide attacker and Perisic is on his radar.
United’s pursuit stalled after being put off by Inter’s £48m asking price while there were also reports the Italian giants were demanding Anthony Martial be included in any deal – something Mourinho isn’t willing to sanction.
It then emerged that United were facing fresh competition for Perisic’s signature with the Express citing a report from The Times that claimed Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has set his sights on the Croatian international.
Conte is desperate to try and further strengthen his squad before the end of the month and the Blues boss is seemingly ready to try and hijack United’s attempts to bring Perisic to England.
However, Chelsea’s interest appears to have forced United back in to action as the Mirror claim that executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward met with Perisic’s agent, Fali Ramadani, in recent days to try and push through a move.
The newspaper says United have left their £39m bid on the table, despite it being knocked back, and Ramadani has also met with Inter officials to try and finally thrash out a deal for the 28-year-old.
We’ll have to wait and see if United are successful or if Chelsea step-up their interest to try and hijack the deal but I think Perisic would be an excellent signing for either club.

The former Wolfsburg winger is a hard-working attacker who’s also a huge threat in the final third as he provided 11 goals and a further 12 assists for Inter last season so I think he’d be a big success here in England.
