Adidas appear to have prematurely confirmed that Zlatan Ibrahimovic has re-joined Manchester United after selling the No.10 shirt with his name on it.
Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the final weeks of the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, have Adidas leaked Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s return to Man Utd?
Adidas appear to have prematurely confirmed that Zlatan Ibrahimovic has re-joined Manchester United after selling the No.10 shirt with his name on it on their online store.
Ibrahimovic enjoyed an excellent season at Old Trafford last year as he scored 28 goals in all competitions to help Jose Mourinho’s men win the Europa League and League Cup.
His campaign was brought to an abrupt end after he suffered a serious knee ligament injury during their clash with Anderlecht in April and he was initially expected to be on the sidelines until the early parts of 2018.
With the 35-year-old’s contract ending in June and the striker facing at least seven months on the sidelines, United decided against their option to trigger a one-year extension and Ibrahimovic became a free agent at the end of last season.
However, the Swedish legend has continued to use the clubs facilities during his rehabilitation and he’s made a remarkable recovery with the striker now hoping to be fit by late November.
This has prompted speculation that United have decided to offer Zlatan another contract and ESPN reported yesterday that the striker would re-join the Red Devils by the end of the week.
It looks like a deal must be close as United’s shirt sponsors Adidas have now started to sell Ibrahimovic shirts on their online store in the USA with the Swede looking set to take the vacant No.10 shirt.
However, confusingly, the Adidas store is still listing ‘Rooney 10’ as an option despite the England international re-joining Everton this summer.
