Colombian defender Davinson Sanchez is undergoing his medical with Tottenham today ahead of his club-record move from Ajax worth up to £42m, according to Sky Sports News.
Sanchez has developed in to one of the most highly-rated young centre-backs in European football since joining Ajax from Atletico Nacional last summer.
The 21-year-old enjoyed an excellent first season in Holland as he was named as the Ajax Player of the Year after helping the club reach the final of the Europa League and finish just one point behind Eredivisie champions Feyenoord.
The Colombian international’s impressive form attracted plenty of interest from the Premier League but Tottenham soon emerged as the front-runners for his signature.
Spurs confirmed on Friday that they had agreed a deal to sign Sanchez subject to a medial and work permit after holding successful negotiations with Ajax in Amsterdam last week.
The north Londoners didn’t reveal a fee but the Guardian claim they will pay an initial £28m up front with a further £14m coming in additional add-ons – which represents a new club record deal.
It looks like the move is now on the verge of completion as Sky Sports News claim Sanchez has arrived in the capital and has been undergoing his medical with Tottenham today.
The news outlet says the centre-back is set to sign a six-year contract and it’s believed obtaining a work permit won’t be a problem so Mauricio Pochettino should have his first summer signing wrapped-up soon.
The Spurs boss is expected to be extremely active during the final stages of the transfer window as he knows he needs to strengthen his squad if Tottenham are going to compete on all fronts this season.

Sanchez will be an excellent start and the South American will provide stiff competition at the back to Jan Vertonghen, Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen once he finalises his move.
