Liverpool Team News: Klopp Confirms Trio Will Start vs Foxes + Double Injury Boost
Jurgen Klopp has confirmed three players that will start during Liverpool’s cup clash with Leicester plus he’s revealed a double injury boost
Liverpool will look to book their place in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup when they take on Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Tuesday night.
Ahead of the game, Jurgen Klopp has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this afternoon and he’s given reporters a team news update.
The German coach is expected to make some changes to the starting eleven that drew 1-1 with Burnley on Saturday afternoon and Klopp has confirmed that goalkeeper Danny Ward will come in to make his first start of the season.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is also set to make his full debut having made three substitute appearance since making his move from Arsenal on transfer deadline day last month.
Klopp also revealed that young midfielder Marko Grujic will be given a rare chance to impress while Jon Flanagan will be in the squad tomorrow – although the defender is unlikely to start.
There was some positive news on the injury front as Klopp is confident Dejan Lovren will return from a minor back injury that kept him out of the draw with Burnley at the weekend. Joe Gomez is on stand-by to step-in if Lovren is ruled out.
Klopp also provided an update on the fitness of Nathaniel Clyne and he says the right-back is now doing light training outside as he steps-up his recovery from injury.
