Chelsea & Man Utd To Battle-It-Out Over Signing Of Tottenham Star In January
Chelsea and Manchester United are ready to go head-to-head over the signature of Tottenham Hotspur defender Danny Rose this winter
The transfer window may be closed but clubs are still working hard ahead of January and next summer so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Danny Rose is linked with Chelsea and Man Utd…
Chelsea and Manchester United are ready to go head-to-head over the signature of Tottenham Hotspur defender Danny Rose this winter, according to a report in the Express.
Rose was strongly linked with a move during the summer after publicly criticising Tottenham’s transfer policy while he also admitted he would consider a move in order to earn a more competitive salary and win trophies.
The left-back was forced to make an apology and ended up staying at White Hart Lane but that hasn’t stopped the newspapers from questioning his long-term future in north London.
United were among the clubs to be heavily linked with a move for Rose during the summer and the Express cite a report from TuttoMercatoWeb that claims Jose Mourinho will renew his interest in January.
Left-back has been something of an area of concern for Mourinho since his arrival at United with a number of players occupying the position so Rose would be the ideal long-term solution.
However, United will face stiff competition for the 27-year-old’s signature as the newspaper says Chelsea are also interested in signing Rose when the transfer window re-opens this winter.
Antonio Conte was keen to sign a left-back in the summer to compete with Marcos Alonso but the Blues boss was frustrated with his pursuit of several targets, including Juventus star Alex Sandro.
The Express suggests that Conte has now turned his attention to Rose and will try to lure the England international across London to Stamford Bridge in January.
Rose is still recovering from a serious knee ligament injury that he sustained at the start of 2017 but he’s expected to be back playing again next month so he’ll be fully-fit in time for the winter window.

However, I’m sure Tottenham will do all they can to resist the advances of United and Chelsea as Rose is an important player and Mauricio Pochettino won’t want to lose him after seeing Kyle Walker join Man City in the summer.
