Player Open To Move As Man Utd Plot Swoop For £134m La Liga Star
Saul Niguez is open to joining Man Utd if they can get a deal agreed with Atletico Madrid but the Red Devils may have to meet his £134m buyout clause
The transfer window may be closed but clubs are still working hard ahead of January and next summer so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd are linked with Saul Niguez….
Saul Niguez is open to the idea of joining Manchester United if they can get a deal agreed with Atletico Madrid but the Red Devils may have to meet his £134m buyout clause, according to a report in the Express.
Niguez has developed in to one of the best midfielders in La Liga over the past two years since breaking in to the Atletico first team set-up having progressed through their youth ranks.
The 22-year-old has already racked up over 150 appearances for Diego Simeone’s side and has established himself as a regular in the Spain squad after previously representing his country at every youth level.
It seems his potential has caught the eye of Jose Mourinho as the Express are citing a report from The Sun that claims the United boss is keen to sign Niguez a the end of the season.
The Portuguese coach wants more depth in the attacking midfield department as he looks to build a squad capable of competing with Manchester City and Niguez has emerged as a prime target.
The newspaper report suggests that Niguez is open to the idea of moving to Old Trafford if the two clubs can agree a fee but United might have to meet his £134m buyout clause to get a deal done.
Niguez signed a new long-term contract at the Vicente Calderon in the summer which included the hefty buyout clause and Atletico are unlikely to want to sell the midfielder for much less in today’s over-inflated market.
One way United could reduce the outlay would be to offer Atletico a player in exchange and recent speculation suggests Simeone is keen on Ander Herrera, however, it remains to be seen whether Mourinho would be willing to sacrifice the 28-year-old.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming months but I think Niguez would be a superb signing for United if they could get a deal agreed for his signature.
