Man Utd Ready To Launch £40m January Swoop On Tottenham
Manchester United are ready to offer Tottenham £40m and Luke Shaw in exchange for the signature of Danny Rose this January, according to the Mirror.
The transfer window may be closed but clubs are still working hard ahead of January and next summer so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd are eyeing Danny Rose…
Manchester United are ready to offer Tottenham £40m and Luke Shaw in exchange for the signature of Danny Rose this January, according to the Mirror.
Rose’s future at White Hart Lane was thrown in to doubt after he angered the clubs hierarchy by conducting an interview in the summer where he questioned Tottenham’s transfer policy and wage structure.
The left-back also admitted he’d like to move back up north to be closer to his family in Doncaster while he also confirmed he’d consider any interesting offers that came in for his services.
Rose ended up staying at Spurs after issuing a public apology and the 27-year-old returned to action last month after recovering from a long-term knee injury that kept him on the sidelines for several months.
The England international is yet to force his way back in to Mauricio Pochettino’s plans and was left out of the squad entirely for yesterday’s 2-0 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates.
This has led to further speculation suggesting that Rose could be on the move and the Mirror claim United are now ready to make their interest official ahead of the January transfer window.
The newspaper says the Red Devils will offer Tottenham £40m plus throw-in Luke Shaw in exchange for Rose this winter while they will also tempt the full-back by offering to double his current £65,000-a-week wages.
Left-back has been something of a problem area for Jose Mourinho since he took charge as a number of players have failed to make the position their own so a long-term solution is needed.
Shaw has struggled to make an impact under Mourinho since returning to full fitness and the 22-year-old’s future at Old Trafford looks grim so a fresh start in January could be on the cards.
No doubt Spurs would be reluctant to sell Rose to a direct rival but the north Londoners could be tempted to do business with United if they get Shaw in return as well as a sizeable cash sum.
Pochettino worked with Shaw during their time together at Southamton and the player recently praised the Argentinean coach as the best he’s worked for so a reunion at Spurs could make sense for all parties.
