Pochettino Could Cash-In With Man Utd Ready To Pay £179m To Sign Tottenham Star
Mauricio Pochettino could be tempted to cash-in with Manchester United ready to pay £179m to sign Tottenham star Dele Alli, according to reports
The transfer window may be closed but clubs are still working hard ahead of January and next summer so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd are linked with Dele Alli….
Mauricio Pochettino could be tempted to cash-in with Manchester United ready to pay £179m to sign Tottenham star Dele Alli, according to a report by TeamTalk.
Alli came through the youth system at MK Dons and emerged as one of the most exciting young talents outside of the Premier League before joining Tottenham in a £5m deal in 2015.
The 21-year-old has developed in to one of the hottest prospects in European football over the past two years as he’s provided 39 goals and 28 assists in his 112 appearances so far for Spurs.
Understandably, that kind of form has alerted some European heavy-weights as TeamTalk claim Barcelona are showing an interest while Real Madrid are also understood to be keen after Alli scored a brace against them during Tottenham’s 3-1 win earlier this month.
However, it looks like the young attacker could stay in the Premier League as TeamTalk are citing a report from Don Balon that claims Manchester United are ready to pay £179m to sign Alli.
Jose Mourinho is aiming to further strengthen his squad as he looks to try and keep up with neighbours Manchester City and Alli is seemingly on the United managers radar.
No doubt Spurs fans will be desperate to see the England international stay at White Hart Lane for years to come, however, the report suggests that Pochettino may be tempted to cash-in.
It’s claimed by Don Balon that the Tottenham boss is concerned by Alli’s indifferent form this season and the attacking midfielder is the player most likely to be sold if Spurs sell a key player as Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen are deemed indispensable.
Obviously £179m is a huge sum and Spurs could be tempted to sell to United at that figure as it would give Pochettino ample funds to further strengthen his squad at a time when money is tight due to the stadium redevelopment.
Furthermore, the report suggests that Alli could be keen on leaving Tottenham in order to start winning major trophies so a move to Old Trafford could appeal to the young attacker.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming months but it’s safe to say it would be a major coup if United were able to lure Alli away from Tottenham – but I have a feeling he’ll stay with Spurs for at least another season or two.
