Man Utd Hoping To Beat Chelsea To Signing Of £61m Brazilian, Player Keen On Move
Manchester United have made Chelsea target Alex Sandro one of their prime transfer targets with the Juventus star pushing for a move to England this winter
The January transfer window is just around the corner meaning clubs are working hard on potential deals so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd are linked with Alex Sandro…
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has made Chelsea target Alex Sandro one of his prime transfer targets with the Juventus left-back pushing for a move to England this winter, according to the Daily Record.
Sandro has developed in to one of the best full-backs in Europe since joining Juve in a £22m deal from Porto in the summer of 2015 and he’s helped the Turin club land consecutive Serie A titles.
The Brazilian international attracted strong interest from Chelsea last summer after Antonio Conte earmarked Sandro as the man he wanted to compete with Marcos Alonso in the left wing-back position.
The Premier League champions failed to agree terms with Juventus so Sandro ended up staying in Italy but the Blues have continued to be linked with the South American full-back in recent months.
However, it looks like Chelsea will now face stiff competition as the Daily Record claim that Man Utd have now identified Sandro as a key transfer target ahead of the January window.
Left-back has been something of a problem area for Mourinho as a number of players struggled to establish themselves in the position and Ashley Young has now emerged as the preferred option.
The 32-year-old converted midfielder has been performing superbly well in recent weeks but a long-term solution is needed and it seems Sandro is now on Mourinho’s radar.
The Daily Record say the Portuguese coach has been handed around £78m to spend this winter by United chiefs and is prepared to use the vast majority of it on Sandro – who’s being valued at around £61m.
The 26-year-old is capable of playing at left-back or as a left wing-back so he’d be comfortable playing in a back four or as part of a back five – which is a system Mourinho has been deploying recently.
It looks like United and Chelsea have been handed a boost as the newspaper says Sandro has made it clear to Juventus officials that he wants to leave the club and move to England in January.

We’ll have to wait and see whether the Turin giants agree to sell but I think Sandro would be an excellent signing for United or Chelsea if either club was able to get a deal agreed this winter.
