Man Utd & Tottenham Given Go-Ahead To Sign £50m Star In January
Manchester United and Tottenham have been given the go-ahead to pursue a deal to sign £50m-rated Fulham defender Ryan Sessegnon this winter
The January transfer window is just around the corner meaning clubs are working hard on potential deals so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd and Tottenham have been boosted in their pursuit of Ryan Sessegnon…
Manchester United and Tottenham have been given the go-ahead to pursue a deal to sign £50m-rated Fulham defender Ryan Sessegnon this winter, according to a report in the Mirror.
Sessegnon has been on Fulham’s books since he was a kid and progressed through the youth ranks to establish himself as a first team regular while he’s also represented England at U19 youth level.
The 17-year-old has emerged as one of the most highly-rated players outside of the top flight after enjoying a breakthrough year at Cravan Cottage last season that saw him score 7 goals in 31 appearances.
The left-back has continued to impress this season and became the first 17-year-old since Dele Alli to score a hat-trick in one of England’s top tiers after netting three times during a 5-4 win over Sheffield United last month.
Sessegnon’s potential has attracted interest from the upper echelons of the Premier League with the Mirror claiming that Man Utd and Tottenham are among the clubs who’ve showing a keen interest.
Fulham managed to hold on to the teenager in the summer but the report cites The Sun as saying the Cottagers are now consigned to losing Sessegnon this winter and are already looking for his replacement ahead of cashing-in on their key men in January.
The news has alerted United and Spurs as the newspaper says they’ve now been given the go-ahead to step-up their pursuit of the full-back but any potential deal could cost upwards of £50m.
Left-back has been something of a problem area for United in recent years and 32-year-old converted midfielder Ashley Young is currently the preferred option for Jose Mourinho.
No doubt a long-term solution is needed and it looks like Sessegnon is one of United’s prime targets so it will be interesting to see if they can lure the youngster to Old Trafford in January.
However, United will face stiff competition from Spurs as the north Londoners have seemingly earmarked Sessegnon as a potential replacement for Danny Rose – who’s been strongly linked with a move after falling out-of-favour under Mauricio Pochettino.

We’ll have to wait and see how things progress over the coming weeks but I think it’s only a matter of time before Sessegnon joins a top club and he’d be a great signing for United or Spurs if either club could get a deal agreed.
