Man Utd Eye Alternative Target After Refusing To Meet Tottenham’s £50m Asking Price
Manchester United are eyeing a move for Celtic’s Keiran Tierney after refusing to meet Tottenham’s £50m asking price for Danny Rose
The January transfer window is now open so clubs are working hard trying to strengthen their squads for the second half of the season and put deals in place for the summer. Today, the latest on Danny Rose…
Manchester United are eyeing a move for Celtic’s Keiran Tierney after refusing to meet Tottenham’s £50m asking price for Danny Rose, according to the Mirror.
Jose Mourinho needs to further strengthen his squad if United are to catch Manchester City and left-back has been a problem area ever since the ‘Special One’ arrived at Old Trafford in 2016.
Luke Shaw has only recently forced his way back in to Mourinho’s plans with 32-year-old Ashley Young the first choice left-back for most of this season so a long-term solution is needed.
Rose has been strongly linked with a move to United in recent months after his future at White Hart Lane was cast in doubt following his controversial interview in the summer that saw him question the clubs ambition and wage structure.
The England international has struggled to force his way back in to Mauricio Pochettino’s first team plans on a regular basis since recovering from a serious knee injury and Rose has been tipped to leave the north Londoners either this month or in the summer.
The Mirror claim that Rose is Mourinho’s prime target and he’s weighting-up a formal swoop this month but United have so far balked at Tottenham’s £50m valuation.
Unless Spurs lower their asking price United may decide to go elsewhere and the newspaper says Mourinho has now identified Tierney as a back-up target in-case he can’t get a deal agreed for Rose.
The 20-year-old has impressed since breaking in to the Celtic first team and would be a much cheaper option as the Mirror suggest the Scottish international would be available for around £25m.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming weeks but I think United will make a strong push for Rose’s signature and will only go after Tierney if they can’t agree terms with Spurs.
