The January transfer window is now open so clubs are working hard trying to strengthen their squads for the second half of the season and put deals in place for the summer. Today, the race for Leon Bailey hots-up…
Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United are set for a three-way battle to sign Bayer Leverkusen’s £40m-rated attacker Leon Bailey at the end of the season, according to the Mirror.
Bailey made his name in Belgium during an impressive two-year spell at Genk before joining Leverkusen last January for an initial fee worth in the region of £12.4m.
The 20-year-old has continued to develop a reputation as one of the most exciting young attackers in European football over the past year with Bailey becoming a vital part of Leverkusen’s starting eleven.
The Jamaican youngster has provided 8 goals and 4 assists in his 16 appearances in all competitions so far this campaign to help Leverkusen challenge for a top four finish this season.
His impressive form has attracted interest from the Premier League with the Mirror claiming that Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United have all been keeping a close eye on his situation ahead of potential moves.
Leverkusen are determined to hold on to Bailey this month as they know he’s important if they are to maintain a push for Champions League qualification this season.
However, the Mirror suggest that with Arsenal, Chelsea and United scouts regularly watching Bailey in recent months, Leverkusen are bracing themselves for big offers in the summer.
The Bundesliga outfit won’t sell on the cheap as the newspaper says they will demand at least £40m for the young attacker after rejecting a £22m offer from Chelsea last month.

Bailey is a pacey winger who can play on either flank and he’s only going to get better with age so I think he’d be an exciting signing if Arsenal, Chelsea or United were able to win the race for his signature at the end of the season.
