The transfer window is closed but managers are working hard on their plans for the summer so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd are eyeing a double swoop on Tottenham…
Manchester United are increasingly confident of pulling off a stunning double swoop on Tottenham this summer for defenders Toby Alderweireld and Danny Rose, according to the Sun.
Jose Mourinho is expected to sign at least one new centre-back this summer with speculation linking Phil Jones and Chris Smalling with moves away from Old Trafford and Alderweireld has been touted as a key target.
The Belgian international’s future is in doubt as he’s yet to agree terms over a new contract with the Sun claiming he’s rejected Tottenham’s latest offer worth around £140,000-a-week including bonuses.
The 29-year-old has a clause in his contract that means he’ll be available for just £25m in the summer of 2019 so Tottenham may be forced to cash-in at market rate this summer.
And the Sun claims that Man Utd believe they have won the race to sign Alderweireld if the centre-back refuses to sign an extension with the north London club.
It would be a major coup if United coup land Alderweireld this summer as he’s been one of the best defenders in the Premier League since joining Tottenham in 2015.
Mourinho is also eyeing a new left-back as he needs to find a long-term replacement for Ashley Young and Luke Shaw has failed to nail down a regular place under the Portuguese coach.
Rose has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent transfer windows and the Sun claims United are ready to formalise their interest in the England international this summer.
The report says Rose wants to join United and Spurs are already eyeing Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon as a potential replacement so it looks like a deal could be on the cards.

Rose has struggled to regain his first team place since recovering from a serious injury but the 27-year-old is still one of the best full-backs in the country when on top form so I think he’d be an excellent signing for United if they can pull it off.
