Man Utd Given Green Light To Sign World Class Star In £50m Deal
Manchester United have been given the green light to sign Toby Alderweireld with Tottenham ready to do business over a £50m deal this summer
There is lots of Manchester United-related gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers with the Red Devils linked with a whole host of star names. Today, United can secure a deal to sign Tottenham’s Toby Alderweireld….
Manchester United have been given the green light to sign Toby Alderweireld with Tottenham ready to do business over a £50m deal this summer, according to reports via TeamTalk.
Jose Mourinho has already snapped-up goalkeeper Lee Grant, right-back Diogo Dalot and midfielder Fred so far this summer but the United boss knows he needs to further add to his squad if they’re to challenge Manchester City for the Premier League title next season.
A new central defender appears to be a priority as doubts continue over Chris Smalling and Phil Jones while Victor Lindelof is being linked with a move away from Old Trafford following a disappointing debut season in England so Mourinho is on the look out for a new partner for Eric Bailly.
Alderweireld has been strongly linked with a move to United in recent months and TeamTalk claim the Red Devils have been lining-up an improved bid after seeing an opening £40m offer rejected at the start of the summer with Tottenham demanding closer to £55m.
TeamTalk are now citing a report from Yahoo Sport that claims Spurs are ready to do business with United and the two clubs are expected to push to get a £50m deal wrapped-up before the start of the new season.
The transfer window closes on August 9th this summer, which is on the eve of the new campaign, so United have just under four weeks to get the proposed transfer over the line before the summer window slams shut.
Alderweireld has been one of the best centre-backs in the world since joining Tottenham in 2015 but his contract – which has just two years left to run – includes a clause allowing him to leave for just £25m next summer.

Tottenham have struggled to agree terms over a new extension so the north Londoners appear resigned to cashing-in now while they can still command a sizable fee and £50m would be great business for the 29-year-old.
The Belgian international is now free to resolve his future after helping his country secure third place at the World Cup with a 2-0 win over England on Saturday afternoon so we could see developments with United over the coming days.
