Man Utd To Launch £28.3m Bid As Red Devils Look To Secure 4th Summer Signing
Manchester United are ready to launch a £28.3m bid to sign AC Milan defender Leonardo Bonucci as the Red Devils look to strengthen their defence
There is lots of Manchester United-related gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers with the Red Devils linked with a whole host of star names. Today, United are linked with Leonardo Bonucci….
Manchester United are ready to launch a £28.3m [€32m] bid to sign AC Milan defender Leonardo Bonucci as the Red Devils look to strengthen their defence this summer, according to reports in Italy via TeamTalk.
Jose Mourinho has already signed goalkeeper Lee Grant, right-back Diogo Dalot and midfielder Fred so far this summer but the United boss knows he needs to further strengthen his ranks if they’re to compete with the likes of Manchester City after finishing 19 points adrift of their rivals last season.
A new central defender appears to be a priority as doubts persist over Chris Smalling and Phil Jones while Victor Lindelof is being tipped for a move after a disappointing debut season in England so Mourinho could be on the look out for a reliable partner for Eric Bailly.
Bonucci is one of several names to be strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer and it looks like United are ready to step-up their interest as TeamTalk are citing a report from La Repubblica that claims the Reds are ready to test AC Milan’s resolve with a £28.3m [€32m] bid.
The Italian publication says the Rossoneri value Bonucci at around £44m [€50m] but United hope to take advantage of their financial situation and the fact the player is unhappy at the San Siro to try and drive the price down.
Bonucci made his name as one of the best defenders in world football during a hugely successful seven-year spell at Juventus that saw him win a whole host of honours including 6 Serie A titles while he’s also racked up 80 caps for the Italian national team.
He made a £37m move to Milan last summer and made 51 appearances in all competitions last season but he still couldn’t help the Italian giants clinch a top four place and it seems the 31-year-old is now eyeing another move following their transfer ban for breaking FFP guidelines.

We’ll have to wait and see how Milan react if United do table an opening £32m bid but I think Bonucci would be an excellent signing for them if Mourinho could get a deal over the line and secure his fourth summer signing.
