Chelsea Ready To Hijack Tottenham’s Move By Launching £20m Midfielder Bid
Chelsea are ready to hijack Tottenham’s attempts to sign Jack Grealish by launching a £20m bid for the Aston Villa midfielder, according to reports
The summer transfer window is in full swing and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Chelsea are ready to move for Tottenham target Jack Grealish…
Chelsea are ready to hijack Tottenham’s attempts to sign Jack Grealish by launching a £20m bid for the Aston Villa midfielder before next weeks deadline, according to the Sun.
Grealish has been with Villa his entire career having come through their youth system and has now established himself as a vital member of Steve Bruce’s starting eleven. The 22-year-old played an integral role in Villa’s promotion push last season before they narrowly lost out to Fulham in the play off final.
That defeat at Wembley could prove costly as Grealish is keen to leave his boyhood club in order to join a top Premier League side and his potential availability has alerted clubs in the top flight.
Tottenham have been strongly linked with Grealish this summer and the Telegraph reported last week that the north Londoners were preparing a formal bid for the £30m-rated midfielder during the closing stages of the window.
Mauricio Pochettino is yet to make a single addition to his squad but the Tottenham boss is expected to be active over the coming week and Grealish could be viewed as a replacement for Moussa Sissoko amid speculation he could be on the move.
However, it seems Spurs will face stiff competition as the Sun claims that Chelsea are ready to hijack Tottenham’s attempts to land Grealish by trying to sign the player from under the noses of their London rivals.
The newspaper says Chelsea are ready to test Villa’s resolve with a £20m bid and while the new owners at Villa Park are keen to keep Grealish, they know they are under pressure to balance the books to satisfy Financial Fair Play guidelines.
Chelsea are expected to be extremely active over the next week as Maurizio Sarri continues to overhaul the squad he inherited from Antonio Conte having already snapped-up Jorginho and Rob Green.
Grealish is able to play as a central midfielder or on the wings as a wide attacker so his versatility would be useful for Sarri, especially as the likes of Willian and Danny Drinkwater are being tipped to leave Stamford Bridge.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop but it looks like Tottenham and Chelsea are ready to do-battle over Grealish and I think he’d be an exciting signing if either club could get a deal agreed before the window slams shut.
