Man Utd Hope To Convince Chelsea Target To Agree Move, £53m Offer Has Been Accepted
Manchester United hope to convince Chelsea target Mateo Kovacic to agree a move to Old Trafford after seeing a £53m offer accepted by Real Madrid
There is plenty of Manchester United and Chelsea gossip doing the rounds in the papers with the English giants linked with a whole host of star names. Today, United are trying to convince Mateo Kovacic to join the club…
Manchester United hope to convince Chelsea target Mateo Kovacic to agree a move to Old Trafford after seeing a £53m offer accepted by Real Madrid, according to reports in Spain via TeamTalk.
Jose Mourinho has made no secret of his desire to bring in at least one more signing before the window slams shut on Thursday night as he’s been left disappointed with United’s activity so far with Brazilian star Fred the only new arrival that’s expected to be a first team regular this season.
Kovacic has emerged as a prime target in recent months and TeamTalk claim United had a £53m [€60m] offer accepted by Real Madrid last week only for the midfielder to reject the move over concerns about the style of football he’d be asked to play under Mourinho.
This has opened the door for Chelsea as the Sun report that the west Londoners have joined Man Utd in the race to sign Kovacic as Maurizio Sarri looks to further strengthen his squad over the coming days.
The 59-year-old has already snapped-up Jorginho from Napoli but Sarri has confirmed he’s still in the market for another central midfielder amid reports Tiemoue Bakayoko and Danny Drinkwater will be on the move before the close of the window and it appears Kovacic is on his radar.
However, TeamTalk cite Don Balon as saying that Man Utd are going to launch a fresh appeal to the Croatian international to try and convince him to snub the likes of Chelsea in favour of a move to Old Trafford.
The Spanish publication claims United will make it clear to the 24-year-old that he’ll be a key player under Mourinho and will outline the role he will play under the Portuguese coach if he accepts a move to Manchester before the window closes.

We’ll have to wait and see whether United will be able to persuade Kovacic to join the club or if Chelsea step-up their interest with a formal offer but I think the midfielder would be an excellent signing if either club could lure him to England this summer.
