Manchester United are ready to launch a stunning bid to sign Willian by offering Chelsea Anthony Martial in return for the South American attacker, according to the Mirror.
Jose Mourinho is desperate to sign two more players before the window closes on Thursday evening after admitting he’s been frustrated with the clubs lack of activity so far. Of the three players to arrive this summer, only Brazilian midfielder Fred can be considered a first team regular so the United boss knows he needs further additions.
A new attacker is on the agenda as Anthony Martial has gone public with his desire to leave Old Trafford this summer having fallen out of favour under Mourinho during the second half of last season and Willian has been strongly touted as a potential replacement.
The Brazilian international is also seeking a move before Thursday’s deadline and Willian has been constantly linked with Man Utd ever since Mourinho took charge two years ago and it seems a reunion could finally be on the cards.
The Mirror claim that United are now ready to approach Chelsea to offer them a stunning swap deal involving Martial and Willian as Mourinho is willing to trade the unsettled Frenchman to land one of his long-term targets.
The newspaper says both players are valued at around £75m and Mourinho is quietly confident a deal can be done as both Willian and Martial are keen for a fresh challenge this summer.
Chelsea have shown in the past they are willing to do business with United after selling their rivals Juan Mata and Nemanja Matic while the Manchester giants did a similar straight swap deal involving Alexis Sanchez and Henrikh Mkhitaryan in January.
Mourinho was the man to take Willian to Stamford Bridge in 2013 and he proved to be an excellent signing having provided 44 goals and 39 assists in his 236 appearances to help the Blues win 2 Premier League titles and 3 domestic cups.

The 29-year-old South American is much older than 22-year-old Martial but he’d fit in with United’s style of play more so it will be interesting to so if this proposed swap deal can be done before the window shuts.
